Diode pumping of liquid crystal lasers

Liquid crystal lasers are typically pumped with Q-switched lasers, which provide the short pulse durations necessary to produce band-edge liquid laser emission. However, current cost and bulk of pump laser, relative component, limit application potential technology. A low-cost compact alternative source has often been discussed within community but not yet demonstrated. In this paper, a 445 nm diode was integrated carefully selected electronics in an attempt reproduce equivalent conditions that achieved from then used laser. Successful lasing achieved, demonstrating, for first time, clear threshold single mode, narrow linewidth Red, green blue outputs different were also realised when same diode, demonstrating broad wavelength selectivity using low-cost, device.
